Beginner German part 3 – level A1.3
Small group German classes for beginners with prior knowledge.
This course is suitable for those who have completed A1.1 and A1.2 courses or
studied German up to GCSE level.

Course duration and group size
The classes take place every week for 90 minutes. At least 4 students are required to run the course for 10 weeks.
Course format
The course is largely structured around a textbook which provides a clear structure and allows us to track progression. The sessions are supplemented with worksheets, grammar exercises and other learning materials of various formats.
We incorporate plenty of listening and speaking exercises in class, to give you an opportunity to put the theory you learn into practice.
Your weekly homework consist of repetition, reinforcement and consolidation of material covered in class.

Course content
You will learn the basics of German grammar and their application in real-life communications, such as:
- German case system — nominative, accusative, dative and genitive
- Reading comprehension — understanding small ads, job ads
- Talking about health, illness and fitness routine
- Making, cancelling and postponing appointments
- The present perfect tense (das Perfekt) and its usage in spoken communication— talking about events in the recent past e.g. the weekend, past holidays
- Making holiday plans; talking about the weather; making hotel reservations; booking tickets
- Local prepositions in accusative and dative (two-way prepositions) — navigating your way around town, asking and giving directions
- Making arrangements in person and on the phone; writing formal and informal emails
- Modal verbs
- Talking about work and professional life
- Dialogues: arranging appointments, discussing aspects of working life, inquiring about availability
