Evening and weekend German classes in the City of London 
Beginner German part 3 – level A1.3 

Small group German classes (2-5 participants) for beginners with prior knowledge.
This course is suitable for those who have completed A1.1 and A1.2 courses or
studied German up to GCSE level.

Course duration

  • 10 weeks, 90 minutes per session (evening & weekend)
  • 15 weeks, 60 minutes per session (morning & lunchtime)

Course format

The course is largely structured around a textbook which provides a clear structure and allows us to track progression. The sessions are supplemented with worksheets, grammar exercises and other learning materials of various formats.

We incorporate plenty of listening and speaking exercises in class, to give you an opportunity to put the theory you learn into practice.

Your weekly homework consist of repetition, reinforcement and consolidation of material covered in class.

Course content

You will learn the basics of German grammar and their application in real-life communications, such as:

  • The present perfect tense (das Perfekt) and its usage in spoken communication — talking about the weekend, past holidays, education, life story
  • German case system — the nominative, accusative and dative
  • Talking about work and professional life Reading comprehension — understanding small ads, job ads
  • Talking about health, illness and fitness routine
  • Making, cancelling and postponing appointments
  • Local prepositions in accusative and dative — to navigate your way around town
  • Making arrangements in person and on the phone; writing simple text messages and email
  • Modal verbs — müssen (must), dürfen (may), sollen (should)Making holiday plans; talking about the weather; making hotel reservation; booking tickets
  • Making arrangements in person and on the phone; writing simple text messages and email
  • Making simple enquiries (written and verbal)
